Challenges In The Photovoltaic Sector

Wednesday 14, May 2008

Dear Customers,

The global increase in the demand for electric power and the trend towards resource-saving energy production are creating a boom in the photovoltaic sector. Experts and organizations are in agreement that this boom will continue in future. Studies indicate that in five years' time the market for PV products will be many times larger than it is today. Although this is fundamentally good news for our industry and for the environment, one consequence is that demand for PV products exceeds supply and we are constantly having to contend with bottlenecks in the delivery of PV connectors. despite having enormously increased our capacity in the past year.

We at Multi-Contact are making every endeavour to deliver punctually to our customers. We have taken a number of further measures to eliminate bottlenecks as quickly as possible:

  • We are strengthening our human resources and investing a double digit million investment in new machines, tools and production plants.
  • We have concluded a number of cooperation agreements with suppliers in order to effectively assure our long-term ability to deliver.
  • We are creating new production units in the core countries of photovoltaic technology. The foundation stone of a new production and office building will be laid in Essen, Germany on 05/30/2008, and we are creating and expanding production facilities in the USA and Asia for the local market.
  • In order to serve our customers more quickly, we are continuously developing our global distribution channels. In this way we achieve a constant standard of service and quality, above all in the core countries of photovoltaic technology.

We are working with top priority on the implementation of the above measures, and in this connection we give a firm assurance that we shall make no concessions on the quality of the products.

We expect that as a result of these measures we shall have eliminated the delivery bottlenecks in the photovoltaic sector by 2009. We shall make further large investments in this rapidly growing sector in future.

We thank you for your patience and for your confidence in us.

Yours sincerely,

Multi-Contact.
